Everyone is Talking
About Pokémon GO, still. But, they’re also talking about cake. And, we’re not taking about ‘cake by the ocean‘. Naughty parents.
Why do I care?
If you’re a fan of carrot cake or Betty Crocker’s Rainbow Chip Cake mix and happen to have it in your pantry at home, then this recent recall is relevant to you.
Tell me more.
After an E. coli breakout linked to a brand of General Mills’ flour, the brand posted to their Facebook page yesterday a notice that said in part,
Today, out of an abundance of caution, two flavors of Betty Crocker cake mix sold in the U.S. have been added to General Mills’ previously announced flour recall from July 1, 2016. No illnesses reported to date have been connected to cake mix. No other General Mills or Betty Crocker products are included in this recall.
The recalled flavors are: Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix and Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix. A General Mills supplier used Wondra flour implicated in the July 1, 2016 recall to manufacture the flavor chips used in these two recalled cake mix flavors.

I. hate. you.
If you haven’t had your tween or teen say these words to you yet, you’re likely holding your breath in anticipation for when they might say them in anger one day. Didn’t we all say these words or at least think them when we were teens ourselves?
So, how does one handle when this ‘milestone’ happens with our kids?
One mom took it upon herself to celebrate it like she might any other, she bought her daughter a cake. We kid you not. And, we think it’s quite brilliant.
It was done as a symbol to her daughter that no matter what happened between them, no matter what words were said, their relationship could not be shattered. And, as it turns out, it worked to heal the wound created from the moment.
The Kids Are Alright
Dr. Google just got a bit more refined when you search for common symptoms like a tummy ache, headache or skin rash. After years of doctor eye rolls and anxiety filled patients from searches gone wrong, Google has fine tuned the medical search process. Now when you search common symptoms, digital cards will pop up under the search box ahead of the links to articles. Each card will have descriptions of common health problems associated with those symptoms. If you’re on digital, you’ll be able to swipe through the cards. Have no fear, it really is just a headache.

Earbuds. You stuff them in your pocket, your junk drawer, a random bag and before you know it, they aren’t working any longer. Your kids lose them, fight over them or tangle them up in knots until they are broken – so we went on the hunt for a solution. It’s likely you’ve seen those upcycled mint containers made into earbuds cases – a really fun way to personalize a small carrying case for each family member’s earbuds, but we found a few other options for you as well:
- These easy duct tape earbud cases will take all that leftover duct tape you have laying around from when it was a ‘big deal’ and you can create individual patterned cases. Just add velcro.
