Everyone is Talking
About digital medical care.
Why do I care?
There’s a new trend in medical care that offers treatment through various apps and digital services, which is making routine care a little more convenient. And, for those who struggle to make in-office visits happen, it’s a possible solution.
Tell me more.
If you struggle with getting to your doc for your birth control prescription or would like to troubleshoot routine conditions like sinus infections or UTI’s from the comfort of your home, there are apps for that like Lemonaid Health and Nurx. There are also sites which offer consulting and medical services like Virtuwell, Maven Clinic and Planned Parenthood – all meant to meet your basic medical needs virtually.
Should you still see your medical provider regularly? Of course. Does this offer convenience when life gets crazy busy, but you want to avoid an oopsy pregnancy, or the discomfort of a urinary tract infection (UTI)? You bet. Does this offer a solution to people who might otherwise avoid the doctors office? Perhaps. Either way, it’s a compelling trend.
The Kids are Alright
If you are a parent to more than one child, you know that they each move to the beat of their very own drum. So, when it comes to raising them in general, it’s no wonder we find ourselves using a whole bag of different tricks for each kid. We found a very cool infographic created by Carol Tuttle, the self-proclaimed ‘Child Whisperer’ breaking down four different types of personalities, some of their common challenges and how to handle them. She starts with four core types of kids:
- The fun-loving child
- The sensitive child
- The determined child
- The more serious child
She then breaks down their individual personality by how they connect with the world, their primary movement, primary need, and how they are often described and/or judged.
Beyond this she gives you ways to interpret their tantrums based on who they are as a child so you might better troubleshoot the issue effectively. She encourages parents to ‘be intuitive, not reactive’ and gives suggestions for each type of child in light of what their issue might be. It’s definitely worth a read (and pin) so you can have it on hand for later. We’re pretty sure our kids fit in at least two of the four types listed and the communication strategies are going to be a sanity saver for the foreseeable future.
Hack it Up
The Fourth of July is coming and many of you will be heading to the beach, so we went on the hunt for some hacks to make sure you were ready to enjoy the sun, sand and waves.
- If you forgot to pick up a sandcastle kit – throw it together with these kitchen tools and voila! Happy kids. Done deal.
- Use a fitted sheet to create a corralled space for baby or, use a baby pool for their very own water play space that’s safer than the ocean.
- Baby powder is your friend for removing sand. Keep it in your car or beach bag and sprinkle it all over feet and legs to easily remove those pesky grains when your ready to leave.
- Freeze water balloons to keep your cooler chilled, then when they melt, host a water balloon fight for the win!
- Sunburns happen to the best of us, even when we re-apply our sunscreen, so keep these aloe cubes at the ready for soothing sore shoulders and backs.

This recipe shows a broccoli kale slaw salad, but you could easily customize to your taste. Another option is to try the salad in a mason jar. It’s a great way ti integrate all of your ingredients into the jar, including the dressing. But, there is a method to that madness, so you’ll need to understand the process a bit. We found a handy dandy infographic for you so you can be successful on your first run.
