Everyone is Talking
About Mylan, the company that makes the Epipen.
Why do I care?
In recent weeks, they’ve making news for price gauging practices related to their life saving allergy medication, the Epipen. Today, it has been announced they will release a generic brand pen for 50% less than it’s branded counterpart.
Tell me more.
For the bargain price of $300 you too can get a two pack of the soon-to-be released generic version of the Epipen auto-injector. It’s still a steep price to pay, but it’s far less than the branded price they were making families pay being the only auto-injector on the market for those with life threatening allergies. They expect the generic brand to be available in a matter of weeks.
The Kids are Alright
Not all boys have to play sports, says one mom, and she’s tired of having to explain that to the masses because of the stereotype that all boys should be involved in some sort of sport. She says, “We owe our boys more than funneling them into a system they don’t fit into. If your boy isn’t an athlete … guess what. It’s okay. They are going to be okay.”
She goes on to discuss the fact that she gave her son a choice at age 11, and he opted out in favor of other interests. After watching her son pick at grass and flounder in various sports, she realized it wasn’t his forte. “My son has a deep, abiding empathy for others. My son is a critical thinker. My son is constantly questioning the world. My son is not a box checker. My son has a thirst for knowledge about space that won’t quit. But the world has no questions for him except for, “so….do you play basketball?”
Our boys are more than the sports they play or do not play.

Menu Planning Mastery
We’ve all been there with items in the fridge that have surpassed their sell-by date and we wonder – can we eat that? Turns out, you probably can. Pasteurized dairy are among the safest items, while deli meats, ready-to-eat refrigerated foods, hot dogs and sausages are the most risky because of their listeria carrying potential. If you’re curious how long you can keep an item and how to best store your food, check out Save The Food – it’s a comprehensive resource listing fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, pantry staples and more.
